Support the Charter of Rights for People in Need of Long-term Care and Assistance

Further dissemination and implementation of the Charter may strengthen the consumers' position and role and further awareness for basic principles for dignity of care.

Right after the publication of the Charter in 2005 various responsible bodies of care organizations initiated public signatures to demonstrate their engagement for the Charter and appeal to the wider public to implement the Charter. Since January 2007 the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) has pushed the dissemination and implementation of the Charter with various measures, such as the funding of the Co-ordinating Office Long-term Care (2007-2009) and the Information Centre on Long-term Care Charter (2010-2012) at the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA). Both projects have supported the BMFSFJ public relations for the promotion of the Charter, have been engaged in projects for quality development in long-term care and have attended to queries from health and care professionals and the public. One major public relation event of the BMFSFJ took place in April 2007 when the Charter was sent to more than 27.000 care organizations all over Germany. The response to the promotion of the Charter has been significant and has substantiated in continuous request for brochures or posters and numerous inquiries by various stakeholders in the long-term care sectors and individuals in need of long-term care and their relatives.

Many institutions and individual persons in responsible positions in long-term care and public figures in policy and society support the implementation of the Charter and document their engagement in public signatures:
